Sassuolo vs. Inter Milan predictions

Inter Milan

Inter Milan are predicted to inflict what would be Sassuolo’s first defeat of the season. Antonio Conte’s side are unbeaten on their travels this campaign and amassed eight points from their opening four away games, although they have achieved back-to-back league wins just once in 2020/21 and can only boast a solitary clean sheet.

Sassuolo are presently joint top scorers in Serie A along with Inter, having netted 20 goals in their opening eight games. However, they have earned half as many points at the Mapei Stadium (six) than away from home (12), and are currently exceeding their expected points by the largest margin in Italy’s top flight.

Benevento vs. Juventus predictions

Juventus are heavily expected to maintain their undefeated opening to their campaign with an away victory at Benevento. The defending champions appear to be gradually finding their feet under new manager Andrea Pirlo and presently rank sixth for expected points. However, they have still conceded a league-low six goals and only failed to score once in their last 21 away league games.

Benevento curtailed a four-match losing streak with their 1-0 win over Fiorentina, although that didn’t assist the fact that they have conceded the joint-most goals (20) and are bottom of the table for expected points. Of Benevento’s last 10 matches in all competitions, both teams scored in seven.

Atalanta BC vs. Hellas Verona predictions

Atalanta BC

Hellas Verona

The market gives Atalanta just over a 70% chance of enjoying what would be only their second victory in six games at the expense of Hellas Verona. Since winning their opening three fixtures, the hosts have struggled for consistency, and their recent 0-0 draw with Spezia represented their first league clean sheet of the season. However, they are underperforming against their expected points by the largest margin among the top half.

Verona can only boast six points from their last five matches themselves and their fixtures have produced a league-low 17 goals. They have beaten Atalanta only once in their last six attempts, conceding just over two goals per game during this run.

Lazio vs. Udinese predictions

Lazio are predicted to pick up their fourth win in five games at home to Udinese. Simone Inzaghi’s side appear to have shaken off their sluggish start that witnessed them collect four points from as many fixtures. However, their poor form towards the end of last season does mean that they emerged victorious from just three of their last eight home league matches.

A return of four points from their last two games prompted Udinese to move out of the bottom three, although their seven goals scored represents the worst total outside of the relegation spots. Udinese have not beaten Lazio in any competition since September 2014 and they failed to score in seven of their last 10 matches against them.

AC Milan vs. Fiorentina predictions

AC Milan

League leaders AC Milan are expected to cement their hold on top spot with a home victory against Fiorentina. The early Serie A pacesetters have won six of their opening eight games, although they did share the points in their last two runouts at the San Siro. Milan did not keep a clean sheet in any of their last five matches.

Conversely, Fiorentina’s opening eight fixtures brought as many points and just two wins, and they failed to score in their last three matches. Despite this, they enjoyed victories from their two most recent visits to the San Siro, and they were absent from the scoresheet on just one occasion in these two sides’ last seven meetings.

Bologna vs. Crotone predictions

Bologna are predicted to continue recovering their form by inflicting further misery on last-placed Crotone. After winning just one of their opening five games, they have since won two of three, and have also netted the second-most goals among the bottom half (13). However, they have enjoyed just four home wins in 2020.

Crotone are currently sitting in last, with no wins, the fewest goals scored (six), and fewest points amassed (two) to their name. While their expected points return still puts them in the bottom three, they are nonetheless underperforming against their expected points by the largest margin in the division.

Cagliari vs. Spezia predictions

Cagliari are expected to maintain their strong home form with a victory over Spezia. As their record of three wins and four defeats from eight matches suggests, the hosts are another team who are presently struggling for consistency, although they only failed to score in matches this season against sides who finished in the top four in 2019/20.

Spezia have turned in a respectable if unspectacular start for a newly promoted side, although they will be aiming to improve upon a return of just one win from their last five games. Worryingly, they rank second-last for expected goals conceded and expected points, suggesting a relegation battle could be on the horizon.

Napoli vs. AS Roma predictions

AS Roma

Napoli are favoured to curtail Roma’s increasingly impressive form by taking the three points at the Stadio San Paolo. Napoli lost two of their last three games, but they have the best expected goals conceded return in the division and scored in each of their last eight meetings with Roma.

Discounting their 3-0 walkover loss to Hellas Verona, Roma are undefeated this season and more impressively rank top of Serie A for both expected points and expected goals. The visitors won 12 of their last 16 league matches, only failing to score in one, although Napoli were the last team to beat them on the road.

Torino vs. Sampdoria predictions

Torino are expected to condemn Sampdoria to a third straight defeat while recording what would be their second win of the season. Despite scoring the second-most goals outside of the top six (14), a return of five points from eight games has left them in the bottom three and only last-placed Crotone have a worse home record.

Sampdoria have experienced a three-match winning run sandwiched by poor results, and collected a lone point from their last three games. They have kept a solitary clean sheet thus far and presently sport the fewest expected goals among the top half.

Bet: Torino vs. Sampdoria odds

Genoa vs. Parma predictions

Genoa are narrowly favoured to overcome Parma in what the odds are indicating will be the most closely contested match of the round. Genoa have collected just two points since their opening weekend win against Crotone and currently have the worst expected goals return in Serie A. Despite this, they still managed to win half of their last eight home matches.

Parma have not been faring much better and will be aiming for their first victory in six matches themselves. They have amassed a solitary point on their travels thus far this season and kept just two clean sheets in their opening eight games. However, they defeated Genoa in each of their last four meetings.
